Shipping and Receiving Associate
Key Position Responsibilities
- Cook up and oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities including loading and unloading delivery vehicles
- Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies and report to the supervisor
- Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and record-keeping purposes
- Address and resolve shipment issues and discrepancies
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders
- Route materials to departments
- Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials
- Pack goods in shipping containers, develop mailing labels, and ship packages
- Ensure all documentation, such as packing lists and shipping labels, is complete and accurate
- Cook up with carriers for pickup and delivery of goods
- Perform regular stock checks and report any discrepancies
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies
- Apply reasoning skills to solve problems as they arise.
Key Position Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Shipping and Receiving Associate or similar role
- Good understanding of supply chain procedures
- Experience with forklift operation and pallet jacks
- Working knowledge of computer programs for entering data; proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and MRP/ERP software preferred
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Able to work both independently and effectively within a team-focused environment
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy objects
- Consistent good attendance is required
