About the Role

We Make Doors – Where they lead is up to you. This position involves operating a forklift and managing warehouse activities to ensure efficient production, quality, and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
• Load and unload trailers for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and stacking of finished door skin loads to avoid product damage.
• Maintain accurate shipping records and ensure correct quantities and products are loaded.
• Perform daily forklift inspections and assist in maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Maintain housekeeping and organization in the warehouse, including forklift cleanliness and primeline cleanups.
• Communicate effectively with the Shipping Lead, Warehouseman, and management regarding process conditions, inventory, hazards, and maintenance needs.
• Ensure continuity between shifts by communicating with oncoming and off-going personnel.
• Cross-train and fill in for the Warehouseman and Packager as required.
• Abide by all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including 5S standards.
• Perform all other duties assigned by management.

Safety Analysis & Work Practices

• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times: eye protection, hearing protection, gloves when handling skins, fall protection for heights above six feet, and face shield/safety glasses when near wire wheels, grinders, or cut-off wheels.
• Adhere to safe work practices, including:
  • Tying back long hair and avoiding loose clothing or jewelry on the plant floor.
  • Using proper lifting techniques and maintaining three points of contact on stairs and ladders.
  • Staying alert for forklift traffic, slippery floors, and other hazards.
  • Lockout/Tagout procedures before working on equipment.
  • Complying with all safety training (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Forklift, PPE, Hazard Communication).
  • Discussing non-routine tasks with management prior to starting.
• Follow specific safety instructions for tasks such as:
  • Loading/unloading trailers: Ensure trailers are chocked and in contact with dock bumpers; never enter a dropped trailer without nose support.
  • Moving loads with a forklift: Use backstops, do not exceed lift capacity, travel with forks close to the floor, and avoid carrying riders.
  • Forklift maintenance: Avoid pinch points, do not reach through the mast unless blocked, and ensure proper training for unfamiliar tasks.
  • Resetting breakers: Turn off associated equipment and wear appropriate arc flash gear.
  • Working on elevated structures: Wear fall protection for unguarded heights above six feet.
  • Dumping hoppers: Follow forklift procedures, including wearing a seat belt and avoiding overloaded dumpsters.
