About the role
The Production I Materials position plays a crucial role in supporting various departments within the Milwaukee facility, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and maintaining a clean workspace. This role involves packing and shipping orders, managing inventory, and performing diverse material movements.
Responsibilities
- Packer:
- Fills customer parts orders from floor stock and shuttles.
- Replenishes stock based on service parts shortage reports.
- Processes inventory transactions in the inventory control system.
- Prints and reviews releasable order reports and releases customer orders.
- Packs materials for shipment to other Badger Meter facilities and prepares appropriate shipping documents.
- Reads and understands customer orders.
- Packs customer orders securely into cartons according to department standards.
- Prepares materials for shipment and sets up and operates hot stamping and engraving machines.
- Maintains carton stock at the station.
- Processes courier packages through the computerized shipping system.
- Packs configured customer orders, Office Services orders, and miscellaneous shipping orders.
- Sets up and operates hot stamping and engraving machines as part of the identification procedure for meters and parts.
- Storage Keeper:
- Performs diversified material movement tasks using hand, power trucks, and electric hoists.
- Selects and issues productive materials, parts, and assemblies to requesting departments.
- Records, prints ID tags, and performs inventory transactions in inventory control and production reporting systems.
- Performs floor to file cycle counts and quarterly inventory audits.
- Removes ID tags from reusable containers.
- Loads and unloads trucks, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or with an electric hoist.
- Prepares necessary documents for products processed by outside vendors.
- Consolidates inventory in bins to reduce storage space needed.
- Fulfills pick lists, resupply orders, and outside operation orders.
- Shipping/Receiving:
- Utilizes power trucks to move product throughout the plant.
- Identifies, inspects, and enters incoming materials into the inventory control software.
- Delivers incoming materials and parts to production and support departments.
- Locates, prepares, and stages outgoing shipments, checking quantities against customer orders and adhering to special shipping and labeling requirements.
- Processes shipments through the Transportation Management Software.
- Loads and unloads outgoing and incoming truck shipments.
- Unloads trailers from other Badger Meter facilities, verifying incoming products against supporting documentation.
Qualifications
- High School Degree/GED preferred.
- 0-1 years of related experience preferred.
- Basic ability to read and understand customer orders required.
- Basic proficiency with computers required.
- Ability to pass internal forklift and hazmat training if applicable required.
- Basic skills in math.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English required.

Working Conditions
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Must be able to pass an audiogram test.
