Shipper

About the role

As a Shipper, you will be responsible for picking, packing, and shipping customer orders while ensuring accuracy and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Pick customer sales orders and palletize large items as needed.
• Ensure accuracy in item selection and quantities during picking.
• Pack customer orders for shipment, choosing the lowest-cost transportation mode and appropriate packaging (boxes or pallets) to maintain order quality.
• Use a handheld scanner to verify correct products and quantities.
• Perform general inspections of tools during the process.
• Enter shipment information into shipping and manufacturing software to process orders.
• Load small parcel trailers with packages.
• Quote LTL freight to determine the lowest-cost preferred carrier and schedule shipments.
• Enter freight dimensions and order information into manufacturing software.
• Run end-of-day processes in shipping and manufacturing software to close out shipments.
• Replenish packaging materials and re-label products as needed to fulfill sales orders.
• Cycle count inventory and enter corrections into manufacturing software.
• Issue necessary shipping supplies to the department.
• Clean, rearrange, and improve department processes.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in the department.
• Basic PC skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
• Ability to prioritize work and transition effectively between tasks.
• Experience navigating customer websites, shipping software, and Transportation Management Systems.
• Basic problem-solving, math, and reading skills.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing software.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to operate handheld scanners and pallet jacks.
• Basic knowledge of safety procedures and department policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Three months of related experience.

Physical Requirements

• Standing/walking 95%+ of the time on a hard surface.
• Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly.
• Occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs. / Frequent lifting of 10-24 lbs.
• Occasionally carrying 25-50 lbs. / Frequently carrying 10-24 lbs.

Pay

Wage range: $17.73 - $23.27 per hour, dependent upon experience.
