Shipper

About the role

The Shipper performs a variety of tasks necessary to prepare products for shipment by rail, truck, or other means.

Responsibilities

• Sorts, arranges, or stages material, miscellaneous equipment, and supplies in designated areas.
• Unloads, loads, stores, and checks inbound and outbound material.
• Records deliveries, receipts, shortages, and storage of material.
• Spot checks inventory daily, being alert for shortages, damaged goods, and other potential problems.
• Ensures all stored materials are properly identified and visibly tagged.
• Maintains documentation as required.
• Keeps the work area clean and performs other duties necessary to support the shipping/receiving function and meet customer expectations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least two years of experience as a material handler, order puller, forklift operator, loader/unloader, shipping and receiving clerk, or similar role is required.
• Forklift certification and the ability to operate common material handling devices and equipment are required.
• Basic computer literacy and the ability to use handheld scanners, printers, label makers, and similar devices are required.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly; over 50 lbs with assistance.
• Willing to work in environments that are hot, dusty, noisy, and require the use of PPE for prolonged periods.
• Willing to work schedules, including rotating shifts, that may change with short notice.
