Shipbuilder

Essential Functions

• Utilize a variety of shipbuilding tools (grinders, torches, etc.)
• Read and comprehend shipbuilding blueprints and other technical documents
• Assemble plate and stiffener components
• Produce large panels and double bottoms, including pre-outfitting
• Perform web line production, including plate cutting
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Manage all areas in the yard production, including dry dock and fabrication
• Ensure safety by checking and protecting areas from hot work
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervision responsibilities.

Education and Experience

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in shipyards with shipbuilding production or ship repair businesses
• Experience in manufacturing of heavy steel structures, pressure vessels, boilers, and similar quality products
• Experience with welding and fitting, hand tools, and industrial safety

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, vibration, dirt, dust, fume, oil, and extreme temperatures
• Tobacco-free environment

Physical Demands

• Sufficient range of motion for heavy lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, working at heights, extended walking or standing
• Good visual and hearing acuity

• On-site, full-time, safety-sensitive position with varying shifts and days/hours of work depending on production needs
