Ship Preparation Lead
About the role
The Ship Preparation Lead oversees and coordinates all activities related to the preparation of ships prior to their deployment or delivery. This role ensures that vessels meet all safety, quality, and regulatory standards through meticulous planning and execution of preparation tasks. The Lead collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, logistics, and quality assurance to streamline processes and resolve any issues that may arise.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the ship preparation team to ensure timely and efficient completion of all pre-deployment activities
- Develop and implement detailed preparation plans, including inspections, maintenance, cleaning, and equipment testing
- Cook up and coordinate with engineering, safety, and quality assurance departments to verify compliance with all applicable standards and regulations
- Maintain accurate records of preparation activities, inspection results, and team productivity
- Monitor progress and provide regular status updates to senior management, identifying and mitigating any risks or delays
- Train and mentor team members to uphold best practices and continuous improvement in ship preparation processes
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics, IT hardware, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in equipment preparation, systems configuration, or a related production or operations role
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with quality and safety standards in a manufacturing or configuration environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electronics Technology, or a related discipline
- Certifications in hardware, systems, or quality management (e.g., CompTIA, Six Sigma, ISO)
- Experience in a data center hardware, server/rack assembly, or high-mix electronics manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or project management software
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and drive measurable results

- Utilizes strong organizational skills daily to coordinate complex preparation schedules and ensure all tasks are completed efficiently
- Leverages leadership and communication skills to manage the preparation team and liaise with multiple departments to maintain alignment and resolve issues promptly
- Applies technical knowledge of maritime regulations and ship systems to verify compliance and troubleshoot preparation challenges
- Anticipates potential delays and implements corrective actions proactively using problem-solving skills
- Proficiently uses digital tools to accurately track progress and documentation, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement
Work Environment
This position is on-site at our facility in Georgetown, TX. Primarily production floor-based with regular coordination with operations, engineering, and logistics teams. Standard business hours with flexibility required during peak deployment and delivery periods.
