About the role
The Team Coach (Shift Supervisor) is a frontline operational leader responsible for running the powder coat paint line safely, delivering quality at takt, and solving problems immediately. Rooted in Toyota Production System (TPS) principles, the Team Coach acts as a leader-as-teacher, owning daily safety, quality, and standard work while developing operators through hands-on coaching.
Responsibilities
- Own daily safety, quality, delivery, and standard work for assigned team/area
- Ensure work is executed to defined Standard Work and takt time
- Lead daily start-up, shift handoffs, and visual management reviews
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment (5S mindset)
- Respond immediately to safety, quality, or flow issues as they arise
- Contain issues quickly and restore standard work
- Coach operators on SOPs, quality standards, and safe work practices
- Observe work regularly and provide in-the-moment feedback
- Reinforce expected behaviors and standards through presence on the floor
- Lead structured problem-solving using TPS principles (e.g., root cause, countermeasures)
- Capture and share learning across shifts and teams
- Support continuous improvement while protecting daily execution
- Track team training status, skill coverage, and readiness
- Ensure operators are qualified before performing work independently
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate cross-training as needed
- Support onboarding and development of new team members
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in powder coating
- Preferred: Experience in manufacturing, operations, or field execution environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through influence and coaching
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and process discipline
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, problem-rich environments
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Toyota Production System concepts
- Prior frontline leadership or coaching experience
- Familiarity with standard work, visual management, and problem-solving tools
- Background in high-growth or operationally complex environments
- 1+ years of Accelevation experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regular lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
