Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and detailed training on a range of different topics with the guard force.
- Select appropriate training methods or activities (e.g., real-life scenarios and simulations, mentoring, on-the-job training, orientation classes).
- Keep accurate records and logs of all training conducted.
- Conduct organization-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed.
- Stay up-to-date on new training methods and techniques.
- Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills.
- Gather feedback from the Training Manager and your trainees after each educational session.
- Partner with clients and liaise with leaders to accomplish any last-minute requirements.
- Maintain an updated curriculum database and training records.
- Manage and maintain local IC training office and equipment.
- Research and recommend new training methods when needed.
- Be prepared to help with post-coverages when the need arises.
- Be available to work differing hours and shifts based on client/officer needs.
Qualifications
- Communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally, in writing, and over various communications systems.
- Exercise good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and ability to render satisfactory performance through knowledge of his/her position responsibilities.
- Maintain poise and self-control during situations that involve mental stress; such as fire emergencies, explosions, civil disturbances, and building evacuations.
- Understand and apply written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations.
- Interpret printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials from the Training Manager.
- Meet all applicable licensing, registration, and certification requirements in the state in which the officer's assigned facility is located.
- Prepare and submit training reports that are legible, accurate, and complete.
Skills
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively. They should also be proficient in using various communication systems and have a keen eye for detail.
