About the role
The Shift Supervisor for the Community Connections department is a semi-professional role focused on team-based management and supervision of staff and individuals in community-based settings, providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in their scheduled daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Program Supervisor, schedules staff in accordance with mandated staff to individual ratio; makes work assignments, inspects and evaluates the work of subordinates, reviews and instructs personnel in the care, treatment and habilitation of persons served.
- Assists in the orientation of new employees and participates in the continued in-service training and practical instruction of personnel.
- In the absence of the Program Supervisor and Team Manager, supervises direct support staff and evaluates performance in accordance with established agency policy.
- Circulates and implements directives of the Team Manager and Program Supervisor and maintains necessary records and reports.
- Provides support to persons served in dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, transfers, lifts, positioning/repositioning, other activities of daily living, and community outings.
- Assists individuals served in securing and effectively managing funds; ensuring the individual’s choice of how these funds are spent, budgeting, etc.
- Assists with the purchasing of groceries, medical, and cleaning supplies; assist in the preparation and training in food preparation in compliance with dietary needs; supervises meal activities and assists individuals served as necessary.
- Assists the individuals requiring supports in participating in varied meaningful vocational, domestic, and leisure activities in the community of their choosing.
- Administers oral, rectal, vaginal, optic, ophthalmic, nasal, and topical medications, after certification by The Arc of the Ozarks and Missouri State officials.
- Observes, reports and records changes in the physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of each individual served and progress on outcomes listed in the personal plan. Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of necessary records and reports.
- Acts as a direct support staff and demonstrates direct support activities to staff through practical instruction, participates in the continued in-service training.
- Implements outcomes and strategies of individual personal plans under the supervision of the Team Manager and Program Supervisor; provides supports as identified in the personal plans; contributes observations to the individual’s team; attends review meetings when assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma from an accredited high school or equivalent.
- Six months experience providing direct care, treatment, and habilitation in the human service field.
- Experience providing direct care, treatment and habilitation to individuals who have intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and/or behavior disorders is preferred.
