Schedule

Full-time position requiring open availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may start as early as 7 am and end as late as 10 pm.

About the role

Goodwill of Colorado is seeking versatile and adaptable candidates with experience to become Shift Supervisors. Previous supervisory experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, production, manufacturing, or similar industries is preferred. A successful Shift Supervisor will naturally become a top candidate for career growth opportunities within Goodwill's Retail Division.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the entire retail center and address immediate issues of safety, customer focus, product flow, and aesthetics either personally or through delegation.
  • Employee Leadership:
    • Manage breaks.
    • Redirect staff/work teams to address call-offs.
    • Coach employees verbally and with initial write-ups.
    • Provide input to reviews and terminations.
    • Facilitate employee purchases.
  • Task/Functional Leadership:
    • Assist in opening and closing procedures.
    • Verify daily sales report paperwork.
    • Count drawers and make change between drawers and the safe.
    • Assist with inventory process by counting, entering, and verifying.
  • Customer Focus:
    • Plan, coordinate, and control the activities of the customer service team to maintain and enhance customer relationships.
    • Serve as the first escalation point for customer complaints.
    • Act as the point of contact for turning down donations at Attended Donation Centers (ADC).
  • Cross Training:
    • Maintain knowledge of store procedures at the proficiency of a generalist to fill in during emergencies.
    • Ensure E-Commerce product is processed accurately and moved efficiently.
    • Use and become certified on pallet jack, walkie stacker, forklift, hand dolly, or other equipment/tools to move and store donated product.
    • Maintain operational knowledge to sustain store functions in rare cases where no Assistant Manager or Manager is present.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Two years of retail experience is desired.
  • Familiarity with product pricing, trends, fashions, and seasonal changes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and electronically with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • Able to obtain certification in all employee positions through completion of On the Job (OJT) documentation.
  • Able to obtain walkie stacker and/or forklift certification to safely operate equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow Goodwill’s policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in office equipment, office software (e.g., Word, Excel), and web-based applications (e.g., UKG).
  • Ability to manage corporate email and calendar (e.g., Outlook).
  • Able to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime.
