Description
Oversee the processes and baling of incoming recycling materials so that outbound recycling materials are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills. Assign and oversee execution of production, safety, and housekeeping duties. Actively participate in and encourage employee involvement in the Health and Safety Programs of Smurfit Westrock.
Requirements
- Supervise production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures for the plant.
- Train and coach operators.
- Conduct employee performance counseling.
- Responsible for shift schedule to include: workstation assignments, rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and temporary labor.
- Cook up production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
- Cook with Operations Manager for appropriate staffing levels.
- Schedule and conduct shift meetings.
- Responsible for meeting shift production goals.
- Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
- Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).
- Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Operations Manager.
- Ensure a clean and safe work area.
- Complete shift paperwork.
- Aid in production as necessary.
- Authorization Training in the following: Lock out Tag out, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Aerial, Loader, Bobcat, Forklift, and balers. (Will be trained in house)
- Maintain and aid to plant’s preventative maintenance program.
Qualifications
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Knowledge of the recycling processes, procedures, and machinery.
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Working conditions include a non-climate controlled environment.
- Communication with diverse staff.
- Work involves lifting materials and products up to 45 pounds.
- Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
