Shift Supervisor

About the role

The Shift Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facility during an assigned shift, including monitoring boilers, turbines, and steam plants. Duties also include routine plant tours, overseeing personnel, adhering to safety regulations, environmental limits, and permits. In emergencies or unusual operations, the Shift Supervisor may direct or personally perform required operations and coordinate activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Maintain the facility within environmental limits and permits.
• Respond to injuries or accidents as needed.
• Conduct shift, daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
• Approve requests for equipment removal for maintenance and other purposes, ensuring proper clearance and issuance of safety permits.
• Resolve plant operational issues and coordinate maintenance activities.
• Train and manage a skilled workforce to ensure an effective and motivated team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 5 years of experience in power or resource recovery plant operations.
• Desirable to have an Engineering Degree, but formal technical training and hands-on experience with high-pressure boilers and electrical generation are required.
• Must obtain and maintain an ASME QRO Provisional & Site-Specific Operators license.
• Knowledge of steam generating power stations and instrument and control systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems, train personnel, and interpret logic diagrams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs, work from heights, and in confined spaces.
• Ability to wear a full-face respirator.

Shift Work

Shift Supervisors work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule that alternates between days and nights, including weekends, holidays, outage support, and vacation coverage.

Pay Transparency

Pay ranges for the primary location of this position are: $118,700.00 - $169,800.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
