  • $130,000 Annual to $140,000 Annual

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the availability of operating personnel by effectively scheduling and coordinating work.
  • Ensure the safe and economical operation of equipment by recognizing problems and taking corrective measures.
  • Contribute toward maintaining the system electrical load by effectively coordinating with Electric System Control during equipment outages.
  • Ensure efficiency of subordinates by assigning job duties, checking progress and reviewing results.
  • Contribute to the availability and disbursement of coal to the unit by ensuring the efficient operation of the coal system.
  • Cookordinate, monitor and provide training of operating personnel and conduct weekly performance evaluations of operators in qualifications for job advancements.
  • Assure an effective, efficient and well-motivated employee resource by providing Equal Employment Opportunity in the areas of the hire and promotion of qualified individuals, the training, development and empowerment of employees, and the fair and consistent administration of performance evaluation and discipline, as consistent with Board policy.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations by communicating with the Environmental Service Department and taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Supervises employee waste handling procedures for domestic, special, hazardous and other waste necessary.
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Post high school or college degree is preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of progressive operating experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory abilities, and good working knowledge of all aspects of power plant operations.
  • Ability to learn all plant functions through on the job and off-site training.
  • Understanding of regulatory and safety compliance standards relevant to power plant operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication to deliver training, provide evaluations, and coordinate across departments.
  • Competence in handling high-pressure situations, such as coordinating during equipment outages or addressing operational challenges.

POSITION SUMMARY

Oversee the hour-to-hour operations of power plant by assigning and directing those functions necessary to meet the electric system demand. Coordinate and oversee the availability of equipment for maintenance and provide senior level supervision of all plant functions in the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Electric Production Operations.
