Shift Supervisor

About the role

The Shift Supervisor plays a controlling function on the shift production activities in the PM Unit. The primary focus is to maximize production and quality while maintaining a safe and environmentally secure operation. This role reports to the Production Manager and is critical for the day-to-day operation of the production area.

Responsibilities

• Maximize production and quality while maintaining a safe and environmentally secure operation.
• Ensure employees follow safety rules and safe work practices.
• Solve day-to-day production related problems.
• Manage and lead the shift.
• Improve product quality and consistency, safety performance, and meet scheduling needs.
• Provide a key interface between management and the shifts.
• Oversee safety, environmental care, quality, production volume, and cost of the total plant output.
• Manage operations during off-hours including weekends and holidays.
• Ensure immediate corrective actions are taken on all safety, environmental, and quality incidents.
• Monitor and report production downtime and provide a daily production summary.
• Supervise and coach shift-mates on production-related tasks.

Requirements

• Management representative during off-hours including weekends and holidays.
• Ensure the execution of operating instructions during off-hours but has the authority to over-rule operating instructions in case of deviation, while ensuring site and business objectives are being met.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in supervisory roles within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing situations.
• Experience with quality control and process improvement initiatives.
