About the role
Manages the day-to-day operation and is accountable for ensuring reliable and cost-effective operation of assigned processing area(s), logistics and utilities, to optimize and achieve production goals of the refinery.
This role is essential in establishing and promoting a culture focused on safe, environmentally compliant, and reliable operations with the assigned area(s).
This role provides leadership, motivation, training, and development of workforce; participates in continuous improvement activities as part of the site management team and ensures Company policies are followed in order to maintain a positive work culture.
Responsibilities
- Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including climbing of stairs, ladders and in confined spaces
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, hearing protection, respirator)
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule, holidays and overtime as required
- Responsible for direct reports to ensure compliance in process safety, safety, environmental, reliability, and cost goals of the refinery are achieved; ensuring consistent application of operation excellence processes (i.e., work permits, routine rounds)
- Develops team’s capability to operate independently, with the ability to handle routine operational issues
- Champions initiatives, projects, and programs that support refinery vision
- Responsible for the development of direct reports; which also includes addressing routine personnel issues including training, coaching, counseling and disciplining subordinates
- Accounts for ensuring process safety and safety compliance, supporting initial steps of incident investigations
- Serves as initial incident commander for emergency response preparedness
- Supports reliability and maintenance work processes (i.e., work orders, quality, prioritization, etc.)
- Maintains coordination of unit operations to optimize refinery operations and meet production targets
- Accountable for operating within a safe and compliant operating window and hitting economic targets
- Ensures effective and consistent application of collective bargaining agreements
- Responsible for assuring all company policies, rules and guidelines are being followed and administered in a fair and consistent manner;
- Ensures effective training and qualification of shift team members
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Four (4) or more years Experience in refinery, petrochemical or chemical role
