Shift Supervisor
About the Role
This Position Operates On a Rotating Shift Schedule In a 24/7 Manufacturing Environment. Team Members Rotate Between Day, Night, And Afternoon Shifts, With Scheduled Days Off Between Rotations. Shift Hours Include Day Shift: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM; Afternoon Shift: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM; Night Shift: 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM.
The Production Supervisor directly supervises hourly employees assigned to the production areas of the plant, ensuring the team works safely and efficiently while producing high-quality products in accordance with production schedules and quality metrics. This leader will use strong people skills and team-building methods to create a culture of accountability and pride in workmanship among their direct reports. The K2 operation is now operating seven days a week, requiring a full complement of supervisors to support the operation. This role is directly responsible for promoting a safe and clean working environment and ensuring proper PPE and tools are available and utilized. The Production Supervisor will support employees through training and job knowledge development while holding team members accountable for their contributions in their assigned roles. Performance will be measured against specific KPIs, including safety and quality performance, production line uptime, prime pounds produced, and labor spending.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly supervise a unionized hourly workforce in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Communicate performance expectations, hold employees accountable to those expectations, and coach and develop employee capabilities.
- Identify opportunities and implement corrective actions to improve safety, quality, productivity, labor, and spending performance through team development, performance tracking, data interpretation, and other problem-solving tools.
- Enter required job information into IN4.0RM and complete daily production and material usage reports.
- Update and maintain time and attendance and payroll data, and administer coaching, training, group expectations, and discipline as needed.
- Ensure employees receive appropriate safety training and comply with all safety policies, rules, and regulations. Challenge unsafe behaviors and promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure all quality specifications are met and maintained.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience supervising employees in a unionized work environment.
- Experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment is preferred.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong communication, leadership, coaching, interpersonal, and team-building skills, with the ability to facilitate action plans.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to quickly address issues and keep production running.
- Proven managerial and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct a large group of employees while effectively supporting a diverse workforce.
- Current computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as experience with control systems.
