Shift Supervisor - 3rd Shift

About the role

As a Shift Supervisor at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), you will lead a production team in the efficient and safe production of corrugated products. PCA is a Fortune 500 company with approximately 15,000 team members across more than 100 U.S. locations, dedicated to delivering high-performance packaging solutions and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the production manager to plan and manage daily and weekly schedules, ensuring production goals, quality requirements, and workflow efficiency are met.
• Schedule work, oversee production activities, provide direct supervision of employees, approve time records, and communicate and implement company policy.
• Engage in employee development, including hiring, promotion, and disciplinary recommendations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
• Conduct ongoing training on equipment, protocols, production standards, safety regulations, and waste control.
• Analyze production performance, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend process or equipment enhancements.
• Supervise equipment operation, inspect materials and products, and prevent malfunctions.
• Participate in production meetings and provide updates as needed.
• Request materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Experience in coaching, training, team-building, performance development, and conflict resolution.
• Able to work flexible hours as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Some college coursework.
• Experience in a corrugated packaging environment.

Skills

• Knowledge of corrugated and packaging manufacturing machinery, concepts, practices, and procedures, including continual improvement and safety practices.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing systems, including shop floor software.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple details, deadlines, and requests.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and prioritize assignments.
• Strong listening, evaluating, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create alternative solutions.
• Solid analytical, mechanical, and mathematical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the company.
• Strong interpersonal skills to lead and communicate with production teams and management.
• Experience working as part of a team or a strong understanding of open communication and information sharing.

Pay

Starting salary range: $65,000 - $80,000.

Annual bonus based on individual contribution and company performance.
