Shift Manager
About the role
The Shift Manager will report directly to the Production Manager, directly supervising salaried Production Supervisors, who themselves directly supervise 5 - 12 hourly operators. The Shift Manager will work with and through their team to ensure all of the plant’s 24/7 processes operate smoothly and to plan during their 12-hour shift. The Shift Manager works with all Department Managers to understand the needs and requirements of the customers as well as develop their direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe work environment in all areas of the plant with an emphasis on continuously improving and preventing accidents
- Maintain appropriate capabilities per department on a supervisor and operator level working through their team and partnering with the department managers
- Investigate production problems, support the analysis of root causes, and help provide solutions
- Analyze delays and interruptions to ensure each department’s schedule is optimized and make adjustments to these schedules to create value
- Ensure that the teams have an understanding of their department’s ISO procedures and that these procedures are reviewed appropriately
- Ensure products and processes consistently meet or exceed quality standards and customer requirements
- Lead and model a culture where safety and well-being of both people and assets are the top priority, always
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations during the shift, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues based on plant priorities
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing/production environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role (supervising frontline supervisors or multiple hourly teams)
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts (day or night) and be the primary point of contact for escalations during assigned shifts (including nights/weekends/holiday rotation as needed)
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and coach supervisors and hourly operators; experience maintaining appropriate staffing and capability levels
- Experience analyzing production delays/interruptions and making schedule adjustments to optimize department throughput and meet customer commitments
- Hands on experience investigating production problems, facilitating root cause analysis (RCA), and implementing corrective actions
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
- Formal training in structured problem solving (e.g., 8D, DMAIC) and demonstrated success driving durable corrective actions
- Prior experience working in the glass industry

Pay
Compensation details are confidential and will be shared with candidates after a conditional offer of employment is made. However, based on available market data, the typical starting salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $70,000 annually.
Schedule
The Shift Manager will work 12-hour shifts, rotating between day and night shifts, and may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
