What You'll Do
- Work to ensure all steel is manufactured to CMC specifications and safely in a timely manner
- Visually inspect furnace for problems (water leaks, refractory wear, etc)
- To ensure slag foaming is appropriate
- Adjust flux additions based on slag analysis to optimize slag chemistry
- Work with personnel in the operation, monitoring, and performance of all melt shop equipment (caster, furnace, cranes, ladle furnace, etc)
- Communicate with fellow workers and supervisors about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
- Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others (pulpit operator, process manager, maintenance personnel, etc)
- Responsible for controlling and replenishing the inventory of consumables needed on the operations floor
- Aid maintenance personnel when requested/needed
- Fill in or assist supervisor in the performing of duties when requested and needed
What You'll Need
- Minimum 5 years of Mill Experience
- Strong computer skills required (good knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Ability to read roll and guide drawings as necessary
- Work which may include weekends and holidays
- Data entry in SAP / QMOS
- Able to work with a budget for lowering cost (SAP)
- Must be able to schedule work through work orders and/or delegation
- Able to work in extreme heat
Your Education
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
