About the role
As a Shift Leader at Zaxby’s, you will manage the product, process, and people required to execute a shift. This role involves supervisory and decision-making responsibilities, including assigning tasks to team members, responding to guest complaints, setting shift goals, and ensuring benchmarks for success are met. You will also handle equipment issues, opening and closing tasks, and continuously train and coach team members to meet procedural standards.
Responsibilities
- Complete all training requirements, including the Zaxby’s Shift Leader Development Plan, Food Safety Certification, and any additional training required by Zax LLC.
- Create a culture of high performance and train/coach team members to meet company standards.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members; communicate performance concerns to the General Manager.
- Prioritize guest and team member experiences, resolving complaints in a friendly and respectful manner.
- Foster a positive culture and healthy team morale through recognition and leading by example.
- Communicate shift goals and motivate team members to meet them.
- Delegate tasks and supervise performance during shifts.
- Maintain operational standards and ensure compliance with Zaxby’s Franchising LLC and Zax LLC guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Uphold service, product quality, and cleanliness standards consistently.
- Enhance guest experiences by ensuring team members exceed expectations.
- Receive and reconcile truck deliveries, ensure proper stocking, and complete daily inventory counts.
- Manage food production and quality by monitoring prepping, cooking, and holding processes.
- Track food safety and quality throughout the shift to ensure accurate orders and guest satisfaction.
- Plan shift duties and ensure opening/closing tasks are completed.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop goals and report progress.
- Ensure adherence to company cash management policies and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Utilize management tools and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain flexibility to perform duties beyond this position’s parameters.
- Ensure team safety and compliance with all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Report human resources and risk management concerns to the General Manager and District Manager.
- Escalate other concerns to your supervisor as needed.
- Perform all other duties necessary to ensure proper restaurant operations.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Part-time: Available to work 9 to 28 hours per week.
- Full-time: Available to work 32 to 40 hours per week.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities, organizational skills, and ability to interact cooperatively with others.
- Follows company standards and local laws regarding employee time punches.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Technological savvy; knowledge of required company software and tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to make sound judgments aligned with company standards.
- Servant leader mindset; leadership experience preferred.
Capabilities
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk continuously.
- Occasionally stoop, bend, crouch, or climb, including the use of ladders.
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, including lifting overhead.
- Continuous use of hands and wrists for grasping and fine manipulation.
- Proficient communication through speech, reading, and writing.
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception to observe and respond to the environment.
- Work in an environment with hot and cold temperature variations and exposure to food allergens.
- Operate and work safely with restaurant equipment, including knives, fryers, and other potentially hazardous equipment.
