About the Role
The Shift Leader assists the General Manager or Person In Charge with management activities and duties, working with the Restaurant Management Team to ensure all activities align with the restaurant’s business plan. This role ensures Crew Persons and Team Leaders perform their job responsibilities and meet expectations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a quality product and customer service experience to ensure total customer satisfaction.
- Improve the skills and performance of all Crew Persons.
- Support efforts to maximize sales and profits while minimizing controllable costs by assisting management and leading work shift activities.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures regarding business and personnel practices.
- Model and encourage Company shared values.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills with internal and external contacts.
- Attend training to stay current on industry trends.
- Participate in company meetings, webinars, and conference calls.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned in response to changing business conditions.
Requirements
- Two to three years of combined experience and/or education demonstrating a strong knowledge of restaurant management.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Excellent planning and time management skills.
- Strong team-building skills.
- Investigative and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot cash handling problems.
- Reliable personal transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
- Access to a telephone or other reliable communication method to meet the restaurant’s needs; must maintain an open-door policy.
- Bi-lingual skills are a plus.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvement strategies.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced environment working with kitchen equipment in tight quarters.
Physical Demands
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Bend and stoop frequently.
- Work around heat.
- Able to lift 50–75 lbs. comfortably.
- Work with various cleaning products.
