Responsibilities
- Operate store equipment, including ovens, computers, and phones.
- Stock ingredients from delivery areas to storage, work areas, and walk-in coolers.
- Prepare pizza and other menu items.
- Receive and process telephone and in-person orders.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and facility daily.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Prior quick-service restaurant (QSR) experience is highly desired.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills for processing orders over the phone and in person.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to make correct monetary change.
- Motor coordination for rapid, precise movements (e.g., entering orders, handling pizza dough).
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (36°F in coolers to 90°F+ in work areas).
- Tolerance for fumes, cornmeal dust, and cramped quarters.
- Ability to handle hot surfaces/tools (ovens up to 500°F or higher) and sharp edges.
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, and meet quality control standards.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: Most tasks are performed while standing on ceramic tile or linoleum surfaces.
- Walking: Short distances for brief durations.
- Sitting: Paperwork is completed at a desk or table.
- Lifting: Unload deliveries (up to 50 lbs) using a hand truck; stack cases onto shelves up to 72" high.
- Carrying: Transport large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz), pizza sauce (30 lbs), and trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray).
- Pushing/Pulling: Move trays on dollies (requiring up to 7.5 lbs of force).
- Climbing: Navigate stairs or ladders for tasks like changing signs or maintenance.
- Stooping/Bending: Forward bending at the waist (e.g., pizza assembly, stocking ingredients).
- Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally required for stocking shelves or cleaning.
- Reaching: Continuous reaching (up, down, forward) for tasks like turning oven controls, stocking shelves, or answering phones.
- Hand Tasks: Frequent use of hands for shaping dough, handling pizza peels, cutting pizzas, and assembling boxes. Eye-hand coordination is essential.
Work Conditions
- Exposure to varying weather conditions when performing outside tasks (e.g., removing trash).
- In-store temperatures range from 36°F in coolers to 90°F+ in work areas.
- Frequent exposure to food odors, cornmeal dust, and hot surfaces (ovens up to 500°F+).
- Cramped quarters, including walk-in coolers and tight workspaces.
- Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts (e.g., pizza cutters, ovens).
- Tasks require talking/hearing on the phone, near/mid-range vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate hot/cold surfaces.
