Shift Lead

Shift key carrier responsible for opening and closing the store in the absence of store management, including all required systems start-ups, cash handling, and ensuring the sales floor and stock room are prepared for the business day. Opens the back door for deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provide change as requested to cash registers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
• Hold store keys to open and close without management as necessary.
• Assist and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including receiving vendor deliveries.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, including handling scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids.
• Assist with order exceptions on order release day and reverse logistics (e.g., returns, empty packages).
• Assist in evaluating and developing displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and on-hand quantities in basic departments, stockroom, and overstock locations.
• Ensure the Outdate program is followed by team members.
• Handle basic department pricing and daily price changes; ensure proper signage is displayed to support accurate pricing.
• Complete additional pricing tasks related to local regulations and compliance programs accurately and within required time frames.
• Assist with bookkeeping activities, including cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payments as necessary or requested.
• Maintain clean, neat, and orderly store condition and appearance; request store or system repairs as needed.
• Assist with separation and placement of food items according to policies and procedures (e.g., raw foods from pre-cooked, stock rotation using first in, first out method).
• Operate store systems and equipment.
• Assist at the Pharmacy out window as requested.
• Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
• Conduct bag checks of team members before leaving the store.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

• Attend training and complete PPLs (Plan for Performance Learning) requested by management.

Communications

• Serve as a liaison between management and non-management team members by communicating assigned tasks when store management is not present.
• Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.

Requirements

• One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• Valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.

Pay

Salary Range: $17 - $20 / Hourly
