Responsibilities
- Opens and closes the store in the absence of management, including systems start-ups, cash handling, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for business.
- Opens the back door for deliveries and vendor drop-offs.
- Handles product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provides change to registers.
- Registers all sales on assigned cash register, including records of scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids.
- Assists with reviewing order exceptions and reverse logistics (e.g., returns, empty packages).
- Evaluates and develops displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures, and sale merchandise; completes resets and revisions.
- Maintains accurate inventory counts across departments, stockroom, and overstock locations.
- Ensures compliance with the Outdate program and assists with bookkeeping activities (e.g., cash reports, counts, ledgers, bill payments).
- Performs basic department pricing and daily price changes; ensures proper signage and compliance with local regulations.
- Assists with exterior and interior maintenance, cleanliness, and repairs as needed.
- Ensures proper product placement and stock rotation (e.g., raw and frozen meats, consumables using first in, first out method).
- Assists at the Pharmacy out window as requested.
- Ensures compliance with state and local laws for regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
- Performs bag checks of team members before leaving the store.
- Holds store keys to open and close without management as necessary.
- Assists with warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including opening the back door for deliveries.
- Communicates assigned tasks to team members when store management is not present and reports disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- Consideration for employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
- Obtains and maintains valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
