About the Role
The Shift Lead role at Spotless Brands is an operational support position designed to provide high-performing team members with exposure to site operations and foundational leadership skills. This role is not a managerial position and does not carry decision-making authority or formal leadership responsibilities. The Shift Lead supports the Site Manager and/or Assistant Manager by ensuring effective execution of daily operations during assigned shifts.
This position is ideal for individuals seeking to develop hands-on operational experience and prepare for potential future leadership opportunities. The role emphasizes execution, team support, and operational oversight—without involvement in staffing decisions, disciplinary actions, or strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Supports site leadership by executing assigned operational tasks; does not participate in managerial decision-making or formal leadership duties.
- Provide direction to team members during shifts as delegated by site management, ensuring adherence to established procedures and standards.
- Escalate all staffing, customer service, or operational issues requiring judgement or discretion to the Site Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Greet and engage customers with professionalism and enthusiasm, promoting membership programs and special promotions.
- Demonstrate and maintain in-depth knowledge of car wash packages, pricing, promotions, and processes.
- Safely operate and train others on the use of car wash equipment and chemicals.
- Monitor and guide vehicle entry and exit procedures to ensure safe, damage-free customer experiences.
- Delegate team members to appropriate workstations and monitor for efficiency and quality output.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of the facility, including vacuum stations, equipment rooms, restrooms, and outdoor areas.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks including pit cleaning, vacuum bag/station cleaning, tunnel upkeep, dumpster cleaning, and removal of debris to ensure a safe, clean, and operational car wash environment.
- Conduct quality control checks on both interior and exterior cleaning standards.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures strictly per company protocols; financial handling and site security are performed under management direction.
- Serve as a keyholder; assist in opening/closing procedures including securing the site.
- Address customer issues or escalate concerns to management as needed.
- Model and enforce adherence to company policies, safety procedures, and operating standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support site operations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, not required.
- Previous leadership experience in a customer-facing or operational environment (retail, car wash, etc.) preferred.
- Must be at least 16 years of age (or older where required by law or safety regulations).
- Valid driver’s license preferred (may be required depending on location and responsibilities).
- Must meet all required certification and regulatory compliance standards applicable to the role as defined by federal, state, and local laws.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Knowledge
- Understanding of basic customer service principles and practices.
- Familiarity with car wash packages, pricing, promotions, and process flow, and willingness to learn.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, and move, often on uneven, moving, and/or wet surfaces.
- Ability to stoop, crouch, bend frequently, and constantly use fingers, hands, and arms, including occasional ascending and descending a ladder.
- Ability to twist, carry, reach, push, and pull frequently.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds without assistance for work-related materials.
- Ability to work outdoors and be efficient in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work on your feet in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (gloves, eyewear, etc.) as required.
- Must be able to work in an environment with varying noise levels, including loud sounds from machinery, tools, or high-traffic areas.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as business needs or emergencies arise.
