About the Role

The Veterinary Hospital Shift Lead (“Shift Lead”) provides exceptional client and pet experiences while assisting the Practice Manager and/or Chief of Staff (COS) in guiding the team to maximize productivity and profitability of the hospital. They ensure effective communication with clients, internal stakeholders, and colleagues, and perform the duties of a Client Services Coordinator and Veterinary Assistant when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Living and exemplifying the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. with self and team.
  • Assisting and supporting hospital leadership in developing an efficient, productive team that provides high-quality care and service.
  • Following Banfield protocols and practices to achieve practice priorities while building the culture and brand.
  • Providing day-to-day supervision of the team, ensuring quality medical care, exceptional client service, associate engagement, and maximum productivity.
  • Creating an environment where the team can deliver quality, efficient, and effective veterinary care to pets and fostering associate engagement.
  • Providing professional, efficient, and exceptional client service, including client education about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, and hospital services.
  • Assisting in scheduling associates to meet client needs, planning time off, and CE scheduling.
  • Ensuring compliance with practice policies, procedures, and Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of veterinary hospital experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Skills

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods.
  • Comfortable around various pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.).
  • Mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking English).
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and manipulate up to 50 pounds.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity, and visual acuity.

Special Working Conditions

  • Working special hours, including weekends and evening shifts.
  • Exposure to loud noise, strong smells, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $18.50 - $23.64 hourly, determined by experience, skill level, education, and location.
