About the role
The Carbon County Deputy Sheriff's Merit Commission will compile a roster from which qualified individuals may be selected for Deputy Sheriff positions. The examination tests mental and physical abilities and knowledge relevant to the role.
Responsibilities
- Administering the examination process
- Conducting interviews for qualified candidates
- Ensuring applicants meet legal requirements and residency criteria
- Resolving any issues related to disqualification based on criminal history
Requirements
- Aged 19 for Corrections, 21 for Road
- Citizen of the United States
- Pass a pre-POST physical fitness test
- Score at least 70% on the written aptitude test
- Meet legal requirements for disqualification due to criminal history
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the minimum age requirement and be a citizen of the United States. They must also pass a pre-POST physical fitness test and score at least 70% on the written aptitude test. Additionally, they must not have been convicted of certain felonies, misdemeanors, or crimes inimical to public service.

Starting wage: $26.49/hr, increasing to $28.77/hr after a one-year probationary period (additional credit for years of service may be applied based on experience and qualifications)
