Sheriff's Deputy

About the role

The Klamath County Sheriff's Office is seeking Deputies to staff both the Corrections Department and the Patrol Department. The Corrections Deputy maintains security and supervises inmates in the Klamath County Jail. The Patrol Deputy enforces and prevents violations of state and local laws.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and supervise inmates in the Klamath County Jail as a Corrections Deputy.
• Enforce and prevent violations of state and local traffic, criminal, and civil laws and ordinances as a Patrol Deputy.

Requirements

• Oregon Driver's License
• High School Diploma or GED Certificate
• 21 years of age
• DPSST Basic Certification within one year of employment
• Physical capabilities as demanded by DPSST
• First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification

Qualifications

• Current or recent experience as a Police Officer, Corrections Officer, or Police Reserve Officer is desirable but not required.

Skills

• Ability to maintain security and manage inmates.
• Ability to enforce and prevent violations of laws and ordinances.

Pay

• Corrections Deputy - Starting wage range: $27.03 - $36.20 per hour, depending on experience.
• Patrol Deputy - Starting wage range: $27.84 - $37.32 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule

• The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day, 5 days a week; 10.00 hours a day, 4 days per week; or 12.00 hours per day, 3-4 days per week.
• Exact schedules are assigned by management and likely to include weekends and holidays.
