About the role
The Sheriff Clerk position is a shift work position with days (0700 to 1500), evenings (1500 to 2300), and overnight shifts (2300 to 0700), weekends and holidays included. Shifts are assigned based on seniority. May include forced overtime.
Responsibilities
- Answers phones and assists public in lobby and determines nature of request for service or assistance and refers the individual to the proper person, division or agency;
- Enters incident supplements into Records Management Computer System and enters information and data in NCIC as needed;
- Responsible for quality control of timely, accurate and complete entries into NCIC-Missing Persons, Gun, Vehicle and Article files that are subject to biennial FBI Federal and CJIN State audits;
- Updates all case activity, including case arrests, additional property information, and case dispositions;
- Validates warrants for authorized law enforcement agencies;
- Confirms theft reports when stolen vehicles, property and guns are recovered by other agencies.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D;
- One (1) years’ experience in the performance of multifaceted office support or detailed secretarial duties including data entry, visitor reception tasks and answering multi-line phones;
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
- Obtain CJIN/NCIC certification within first three (3) months of hire and maintain re-certification every two (2) years.
- The supervisor may extend the deadline for the CJIN certification an additional three (3) months from date of hire.
- Finalist(s) must pass a background check.

Pay
- Part-time employees who work a minimum of 20 hours per week, receive benefits on a pro-rated basis.
