About the role
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is seeking individuals to join its team as a SHERIFF DEPUTY CADET (Basic Peace Officer Course). This position is open to anyone not licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) as a Peace Officer.
Responsibilities

- Completion of the Basic Peace Officer Course, which includes classroom and field training.

Requirements
- Meet Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) background requirements.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be at least 20.5 years old by the application date.
- Have a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Pass all phases of the application process.
- Have a minimum of 48 college credit hours with a 2.0 GPA or equivalent work or military experience.
- Have a high school diploma or GED and 18 months of steady work history, or 3 years of steady work history with military experience.
- Have a bachelor's degree or higher formal education.
- Have military experience with 730 retirement points or six years of service.
