Sheetmetal Fabricator
About the role
The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing ductwork and sheet metal products using hand tools and fabrication machinery. This role also supports warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, stocking, and fulfilling orders for customers, vendors, and branch locations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Operates hand and power tools (e.g., shears, brake presses, roll formers) for sheet metal fabrication.
- Makes measurements, marks, drills, and assembles components to exact specifications.
- Selects materials and aligns parts with precision during layout and assembly.
- Inspects fabricated parts for accuracy and quality before final assembly.
- Supports warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, transfers, and order fulfillment.
- Picks, stages, and verifies orders; unloads and checks in merchandise.
- Stocks and organizes inventory by category and designated location.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
- Loads and secures products per standard procedures; handles bills of lading and related documentation.
- Operates warehouse equipment safely and in compliance with company guidelines.
- Accurately labels products and orders.
- Assists with physical inventory counts and ensures proper merchandise handling.
- Inspects products for damage and reports quantity, location, or condition discrepancies.
- Follows verification procedures to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Follows all company safety protocols, including PPE usage and safe lifting techniques.
- Conducts equipment safety checks and secures loads during transport.
- Promptly addresses and reports unsafe conditions or incidents with proper documentation.
- Performs duties in a constant state of alertness, ensuring safety in all tasks.
- Maintains proficiency in company systems for data entry, communication, and workflow management.
- Adapts to evolving responsibilities and performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- 1+ year of experience in warehousing or related functions
- Strong work ethic with a focus on safety and customer service
- Aptitude for math and numerical analysis
- Proficient with office technology and virtual communication tools
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position requires up to 40+ hours per week and includes routine physical activity such as:
- Frequent lifting of 25–50 lbs., with occasional lifts up to 100 lbs.
- Operating forklifts and material handling equipment for extended periods (up to 6 hours daily).
- Climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
- Pushing/pulling of loads up to 300 lbs.
- Prolonged use of hands, arms, and feet for equipment operation.
- Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the shift.
