Description
What you will be doing as a Sheet Metal Technician:
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment for general aviation aircraft.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines.
- Shape metal using various tools.
- Join parts with soldering and welding equipment.
- Ensure seamless and smooth joints and surfaces.
Responsibilities
May Include (but Are Not Limited To):
- Project Planning: Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, and methods using blueprints and instructions.
- Sheet Metal Layout: Lay out and alter sheet metal parts based on blueprints, drawings, and instructions.
- Riveting and Removal: Perform rivet and sheet metal component removal, and install solid and blind rivets with various tools including rivet guns and squeeze tools.
- Metal Fabrication: Bend, form, and drill various metals, ensuring precise fabrication of parts.
- Hole Preparation: Set up for countersinking, dimpling, and deburring holes and cut lines.
Qualifications
- A High School education, or a GED is required.
- A minimum 2 years of diversified aviation sheet metal experience is required.
- Familiarity with FAA AC 43. 13-1B and aircraft structure repair manuals is helpful.
- Skills in identifying types of corrosions and corrosion removal procedures are helpful.
- Knowledge of the application and removal of wash etch and Alodine material is helpful.
- Experience in applying primer is helpful.
- Ability to identify rivets, bolts, screw, nuts and washer is helpful.
