About the role

Under minimal supervision, the Sheet Metal Fabrication Technician III performs advanced fabrication and assembly of complex sheet metal components. This role serves as a technical expert, ensuring high-quality standards and supporting team development.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate complex sheet metal parts and assemblies requiring advanced forming, fitting, and precision.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with design intent.
• Perform advanced layout, forming, and assembly operations with tight tolerances.
• Troubleshoot fabrication issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all work meets FAA regulations, RSQM standards, and customer expectations.
• Inspect and verify work for quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Provide guidance and technical support to lower-level technicians.
• Support process improvements related to fabrication efficiency and quality.
• Coordinate with engineering and leadership on technical challenges.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; trade school preferred.
• 5+ years of sheet metal fabrication experience, preferably in aviation or high-precision manufacturing.
• Demonstrated expertise in complex fabrication and assembly.

Skills

• Advanced knowledge of fabrication techniques, tooling, and materials.
• Strong understanding of FAA/RSQM requirements.
• Advanced blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior technicians.

Work Environment

This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment and may involve:

• Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
