Shear Operator

Running and maintaining shears and saws in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Operates hydraulic or power shears/saws to cut materials to precise dimensions.
• Sets up machine stops, gauges, and blades, adjusting the rake (angle) and pressure for optimal cuts.
• Lifts, positions, and aligns materials (metal plates, sheets, bars) manually or using overhead cranes.
• Inspects finished workpieces for accuracy, checking for compliance with blueprints or work orders.
• Performs routine maintenance (e.g., lubricating, sharpening blades) and adheres to safety regulations, including wearing protective gear.
