About the role
Join the largest independent Medical Waste Service Provider in the country as a Sharps Technician. You will safely provide on-site placement, collection, and transportation of reusable sharps and medical waste containers throughout assigned healthcare facilities. This role includes paid training, company-provided uniforms, and offers long-term career development across 35+ locations in an economically stable, essential industry.
Responsibilities
- Travel between and within assigned healthcare facilities to place, collect, and service reusable Sharp Medical Waste containers (Sharps, Rx, Haz, Document Destruction, etc.).
- Collect and transport RCRA pharmaceutical waste to designated accumulation areas within the facility.
- Maintain a strict service and collection schedule to ensure timely and consistent support.
- Communicate duty status and service updates on a defined schedule.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by proactively resolving questions, problems, and service concerns.
- Ensure safe, compliant handling of medical and pharmaceutical waste in patient rooms and sensitive healthcare environments.
- Operate independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Document activities as required and follow all operational, regulatory, and facility procedures.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass a background check, drug screening, and any required healthcare screenings.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service in diverse healthcare settings.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Lift 25–40 lbs frequently; occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
- Push and pull carts weighing 200–400 lbs, including through tight or confined spaces (e.g., hospital corridors).
- Carry sharps containers, pharmaceutical waste boxes, and supplies weighing 15–40 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between customer facilities.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity, professionalism, and discretion in patient-care environments.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when needed.
- Must be willing and able to obtain additional vaccinations, immunizations, or health clearances as required by customer facilities. COVID-19 vaccination preferred.
