SHARPS TECHNICIAN

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Ensures waste types are properly segregated, regulatory shipment windows are met, proper container labeling is adhered to, good housekeeping is maintained, and accurate tracking logs are kept
• Travel between customer healthcare facilities to proactively monitor, collect, and exchange waste containers for various Sharps and Pharmaceutical Management Systems
• Interacts professionally with onsite customer staff to ensure service expectations are met or exceeded
• Maintains a rigid collection and service schedule
• Communicates duty status on a defined scheduled
• Maintains compliance with applicable environmental, safety and transportation regulations (EPA, OSHA, and DOT)
• Immediately reports any unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries or property damage to supervisor
• Performs labor intensive activities such as walking long distances while pushing/pulling service carts
• Performs other related duties as required or requested

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or GED (accredited)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to Maintain required mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements

Work Conditions

• Physical Demands: Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity most of the workday
• Physical Effort: Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 50 pounds most of the workday
• Environment & Physical Effort Required: Requires long periods of walking while pushing/pulling a service cart, exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday, exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) most of the workday
