Purpose Of Position

The SharePoint Architect / Senior Developer is a hybrid leadership and hands-on role responsible for designing, developing, supporting, and maintaining the enterprise SharePoint and Microsoft 365 collaboration ecosystem. This role combines strategic architecture ownership with deep technical execution, ensuring that SharePoint solutions are well-architected, scalable, secure, and continuously supported for business operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Architecture & Solution Design:

    • Define and own the SharePoint architecture roadmap
    • Design scalable, secure, and high-performing SharePoint solutions
    • Translate business requirements into technical architecture and solution designs
    • Define integration patterns across enterprise platforms (CRM, banking systems, document management, etc.)
    • Ensure alignment with enterprise digital workplace and data strategy
  • Development (Hands-On):

    • Act as a senior hands-on developer for SharePoint solutions
    • Design and develop solutions using: SPFx (SharePoint Framework), Microsoft Graph APIs, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), Azure services (Functions, Logic Apps, API Management)
    • Build reusable components, frameworks, and accelerators
    • Lead code reviews and enforce development standards and best practices
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Support & Maintenance (Operational Ownership):

    • Own end-to-end support model for SharePoint platforms and solutions
    • Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance
    • Lead root cause analysis and issue resolution for production incidents
    • Manage: Enhancements and change requests, Bug fixes and performance tuning, Patch management and platform updates
    • Adhere to SLAs and operational KPIs
  • Platform Optimization & Modernization:

    • Lead modernization initiatives (classic → modern SharePoint)
    • Optimize platform cost, performance, and usability
    • Introduce automation-first solutions and AI capabilities (Copilot, search enhancements)
    • Continuously evaluate new Microsoft 365 capabilities
  • Governance & Compliance:

    • Define and enforce governance frameworks: Site provisioning & lifecycle management, Metadata & taxonomy standards, Content management policies
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements: Data retention, DLP, access control
    • Partner with security teams on identity based and Zero Trust models
  • Integration & Ecosystem Leadership:

    • Architect integrations across: Microsoft 365 (Teams, OneDrive, Viva, Purview), Azure services, Third-party systems
    • Establish API-first and event-driven architecture standards
    • Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Act as a technical advisor and escalation point
    • Provide mentorship to developers and support teams
    • Drive collaboration across business and IT stakeholders
    • Communicate architecture decisions, trade-offs, and roadmap

Knowledge, Skills And Experience Requirements

  • Core Architecture Expertise:

    • Deep expertise in SharePoint Online and hybrid architecture
    • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 ecosystem
  • Technical Stack:

    • Advanced Expertise In SPFx (SharePoint Framework)
    • Microsoft Graph APIs
    • Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
    • Azure services (Functions, Logic Apps, API Management)
    • Strong Working Knowledge Of Azure AD / Entra ID (Identity & Access Management)
    • Security & compliance tools (Purview, DLP)
  • Development & Operations:

    • Strong full-stack SharePoint development experience
    • Experience supporting and maintaining production systems
    • Knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD, release management, monitoring)
    • Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and incident resolution
    • Integration & Design Experience designing enterprise integrations and distributed systems
    • Expertise in content/data architecture models
  • Governance & Compliance:

    • Strong knowledge of governance frameworks: Site provisioning & lifecycle management, Metadata & taxonomy standards, Content management policies
    • Knowledge of information lifecycle and compliance requirements
  • Leadership & Communication:

    • Leadership & Communication Ability to engage with executive stakeholders
    • Strong communication and documentation skills
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Experience:

    • Experience 10+ years in SharePoint / Microsoft 365 ecosystem
    • Experience 5+ years in hands-on development roles
    • Experience 3+ years in architecture or technical leadership roles
    • Experience in financial services or regulated environments (preferred)
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Pay

The starting base salary for this role is between $130,000.00 – $150,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Hybrid Work Model

Effective February 18, 2025, employees in office-based positions will be working a Hybrid work schedule consisting of three days or more, on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, the contact center, branch service roles, and general services where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely.
