About the role
To create a terrifying and immersive experience for guests by portraying a frightening character. Perform to the best of your ability to scare and interact with guests in the assigned area. Work in environments that may include dark rooms, loud music, fog, strobe lights, animatronic effects, and outdoor settings.
Responsibilities
- Stay in character at all times while guest-facing.
- Work with Host, Escort, or Supervisor to address emergencies or issues.
- Do not touch guests or scare children in strollers.
- Avoid excessively scaring a single guest or group to the exclusion of others.
- Do not stop performing to chat with other Scare-Actors, Supervisors, or Team Members.
- Prioritize your safety and the safety of guests during performances.
- Walk, scare, and interact with guests as they move through your area.
- Remain in your assigned area until dismissed by the Supervisor.
- Wear the assigned costume appropriately, supplying your own black shoes, black pants, and the Fright Fest t-shirt.
- Protect costumes, makeup, masks, contacts, teeth, or prosthetics from abuse or damage.
- Follow all scheduling regarding meals and breaks.
- Maintain guest safety and satisfaction, including guiding guests, maintaining order, and assisting with emergencies.
- Ensure general housekeeping for haunted houses, break areas, makeup areas, and Show Wardrobe.
- Adhere to and enforce all park policies and procedures as outlined in the Seasonal Handbook and Department Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
- Report any unsafe acts or conditions to the Supervisor immediately.
- Train new personnel as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum age: 16.
- Must be available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 4 PM to park close.
- Must be able to wear costumes, stage makeup, and/or prosthetics for long periods.
- Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be professional, self-motivated, and able to multitask with an enthusiastic attitude.
- Must have strong teamwork skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Must be able to energetically interact with guests for the full length of the shift.
Job Fair: Friday, September 4th, 2026, from 2 PM – 7 PM at 542 N Route 21, Gurnee, IL 60031. No appointment needed. Park in the candidate parking area, proceed through Security at Gate 4, and follow directions to the Human Resources building.
