SFDK Life Support Laboratory Team Lead - $28.00/HR

Responsibilities

• Staffing and inventory control of the Life Support Laboratory
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and chemical processes
• Aid in preparing the annual budget under the supervision of the Life Support Supervisor
• Purchase new materials and supplies for the Laboratory
• Communicate testing results to the Attending Veterinarian Team and Management via the OERCA Animal Welfare Application
• Oversee the Laboratory’s safety program and enforce safety policies and procedures
• Interface with regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations to maintain compliance
• Work collaboratively with the Life Support Supervisor to ensure facility compliance with regulatory and accrediting organizations
• Enforce departmental policies as needed
• Follow and enforce all policies of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Requirements

• 1-3 years previous experience as a Water Quality Laboratory Technician (AZA or ZAA Affiliation Preferred)
• AALSO Water Quality Certification Preferred
• Experience with OERCA Animal Welfare Application preferred
• Thorough working knowledge of water chemistry applicable to various systems including marine mammals, fish, and avian systems
• Ability to work in all types of weather and environments
• Effective communication skills with professionals and governmental agencies
• Excellent organizational skills
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Good corrected/uncorrected eyesight
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
