Sewer Maintenance Engineer - Saint Paul

About the role

The City of Saint Paul's Department of Public Works Sewer Utility seeks an experienced Civil Engineer to support sewer engineering, technical direction, and related administrative work in the Sewer Maintenance Section.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement process improvements for sewer maintenance.
• Function as technical lead and emergency management representative for flood preparations, readiness planning, and events.
• Manage sewer buildings, specialized equipment, and vehicles.

Requirements

• Experience in civil engineering, preferably with municipal sewer systems.
• Knowledge of stormwater management and flood control techniques.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate specialized equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Schedule

This position is located at 419 Burgess St., Saint Paul, MN, and works the hours of 7:30am - 4:00pm, on-site, with required daily on-site presence and minimal opportunity for remote work. Availability to work outside regular hours is required for critical deadlines and emergencies.
