Sessional Lecturer - CTL7032Y - Curriculum and Teaching in Visual Arts - Intermediate/Secondary
About the role
The course focuses on preparing to teach visual arts at the Intermediate/Senior level within the Ontario curriculum. Students will learn about curriculum design, lesson planning, and instructional methods related to secondary school studio work and the critical analysis of art.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, organize, and teach the graduate course in Curriculum and Teaching in Visual Arts
- Be available to students for assistance between classes
- Evaluate student work and provide feedback
- Attend pre-course planning meetings and MT All-Instructor Meetings
- Submit course syllabus as requested by the department
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrate currency and mastery in the course subject matter
- Excellence in teaching, including online teaching
- Evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher-candidates' professional learning
- An Ontario Teaching certificate is an asset

Pay
As of September 1, 2026, the minimum stipend is $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. As of January 1, 2027, the minimum stipend remains the same. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.
Schedule
The sessional dates of appointment are from September 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027. The appointment percentage is 100%.
