Description
The Buddhism, Psychology and Mental Health Program at New College seeks a sessional lecturer from January 1, 2027 – May 6, 2027 for the course:
- BPM332H1S – Buddhism and Psychotherapy
A multi-cultural and interdisciplinary study of therapeutically-oriented practices and theories of the mind. Areas considered include positive psychology, psychoanalysis, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation, and Jungian psychology, with comparison to various Buddhist teachings and practices.
Enrolment Estimate: 100 students
Estimated TA Support: 165 hours
Class Schedule
Lecture: Monday 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Pay
- Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.47
- Sessional Lecturer I (Long-term): $10,699.21
- Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.21
- Sessional Lecturer II (Long-term): $10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III (Long-term): $11,228.90
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed or nearly completed Ph.D. with a scholarly background in areas related to Buddhist Studies, Mindfulness, and/or the intersections between Buddhism and Psychology and/or philosophical theories of mind.
- Teaching experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in a university setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
Normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; and holding regular office hours.
