What You Will Be Doing
- Cook up the onboarding or offboarding of mortgage loan portfolios.
- Inspect and reconcile loan-level data, documents, and servicing histories between transferring and receiving parties.
- Act as the go-to person for internal stakeholders, counterparties, and third-party vendors.
- Analyze loan data files like Loan Servicing Transfer files such as Loan Setup, Transaction History, ARM Data, etc.
- Promote accuracy and completeness of critical fields like payment history, escrow balances, taxes, insurance, and investor codes.
- Spot and fix discrepancies or data mismatches before and after transfer.
- Affirm compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., RESPA, CFPB) and investor guidelines (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA).
- Prepare internal and external reports on transfer status, performance metrics, and exception tracking.
- Maintain audit trails and documentation for all transfer activities.
- Collaborate with IT, Compliance, Loan Administration, Escrow, and Customer Service teams to ensure smooth transfer processes.
- Support borrower communication efforts regarding servicing transfer notices and key servicing changes.
- Investigate and resolve post-transfer issues such as misapplied payments, missing documents, or escrow inaccuracies.
- Log and escalate recurring issues to enhance process efficiency and prevent future errors.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data manipulation tools.
- Eloquent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Nice To Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in mortgage servicing, loan boarding, or data reconciliation.
- Experience with servicing transfers involving GSEs (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) or GNMA.
- Understanding of RESPA, CFPB regulations, and other industry servicing requirements.
- Prior exposure to data mapping or scripting tools (e.g., SQL, Access, or Python).
- Familiarity with MSP (Black Knight), FiServ, or other mortgage servicing platforms.
