Services Lead, Beach Volleyball
LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games.
About the role
Within the Beach Volleyball division, the Senior Associate is responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, and management of the administrative functions of Beach Volleyball and Blind Football events at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This role will facilitate critical services for key stakeholder groups, such as athletes, International Federations, and technical officials. The Senior Associate will also coordinate sports information with various LA28 divisions, participate in test event planning and operations, and manage the recruitment and training of sports staff and volunteers.
Responsibilities
Pre-Games Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and serve as the dedicated sport contact for organizing visits from the International Federation in collaboration with the IF Services Team and Head of Competition Management.
- Act as the dedicated sports contact for coordinating services-related matters with the International Federation, including accommodation, transportation, accreditation, and hospitality.
- Advocate for and coordinate all sport stakeholders’ services, including athletes, technical officials, IF staff, and IF guests.
- Create and ensure organized follow-up of databases related to key topics of the Sport Delivery Plan between the International Federation and LA28 departments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for NOC/NPC services teams to establish effective communication channels for visits and information requests.
- Support the Sport Manager to ensure all operational procedures and processes of LA28 are understood and followed.
- Collaborate with the Sport Manager and the head of technical operations for coordination of teams and administrative operations, including monitoring and updating databases, planning, and organizing team meetings.
- Work closely with the Sport Manager, technical operations lead, National Federation, and LA28 Workforce team to recruit, train, and manage sport-specific volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Sport Manager and technical operations lead to recruit, train, and deploy the team responsible for delivering competitions.
- Work with the Sport Manager, International Federation, and National Federation for the selection and training of National Technical Officials (NTOs) required for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Manage all other tasks and projects related to the delivery of competitions as requested by the Sport Manager.
- Collaborate with the IF Services and Relations Manager to ensure sharing of information and tools with the services team and other stakeholders.
Games Time Responsibilities
- Coordinate services for athletes, the International Federation, international and national officials, sport information, and volunteers during the Games.
- Manage a team of full-time employees, including scheduling, task delegation, training, and on-site management.
- Oversee a team of sport-specific volunteers, including recruitment, retention, training, scheduling, recognition, and task delegation.
- Act as the point of contact with LA28 functional areas to resolve Games Time issues.
- Serve as the point of contact with the International Federation team to identify and resolve Games Time issues.
Requirements
- Experience collaborating with National and International Federations and knowledge of their structure and functioning during national and international events.
- Understanding and knowledge of the operational elements required for organizing major sports events/competitions.
- Experience in international sporting events.
- Experience working with an International Federation and knowledge of their structure and operation is an advantage.
- Experience working with a National Sport Federation and knowledge of its structure and operation at domestic and international events is an advantage.
- Experience managing a team (staff and volunteers) at major events.
- Good understanding and knowledge of project management, including planning and producing tracking documents.
- Ability to manage multiple projects involving numerous stakeholders.
- Skills in report writing and presentation materials.
- Knowledge of the Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as the specific sport’s technical requirements is an advantage.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Excellent level of English, both written and spoken, is essential for this position.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
- Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
- Ability to perform other duties as required; the role may evolve over time and include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Ability to be outdoors in the elements for long periods, including exposure to sun, wind, rain, etc.
Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000 - $98,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role, subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
