Service Technician - Ag/Diesel Equipment Pound

About the role

As a Service Technician, you will become a trusted partner to our customers, servicing, repairing, reconditioning, and assembling customer and dealership equipment, both new and used. You will maintain and operate shop equipment and tools, performing quality work as quickly and profitably as possible. The majority of work is done in the shop, but some field travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Accept repair orders as assigned by the Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, Service Writer, or assigned person.
• Diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs.
• Coordinate with Service office staff to communicate repairs to customers and obtain approvals.
• Repair, service, recondition, or assemble equipment as approved by the customer or Service Manager.
• Obtain necessary parts, working cooperatively with the Parts Department staff.
• Notify the Service Manager when parts orders need to be expedited.
• Complete service inspections on equipment and recommend repairs.
• Work to control come-backs, addressing them with special attention to prevent recurrence.
• Promote marketing programs to customers to drive sales.
• Participate in the after-hours program, carrying the pager for a week at a time and responding to calls in a timely, professional manner.
• Seek assistance for unfamiliar technical matters.
• Communicate with customers in a positive, professional manner, demonstrating patience in explaining repairs.
• Thank customers for their business.
• Notify the Service Manager of safety issues and/or accidents immediately.
• Accurately document time and work performed on provided forms in a legible and complete manner.
• Conduct work safely, wearing safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and follow other company safety guidelines.
• Attend meetings, training sessions, and other company events, participating in a positive, professional manner.
• Stay up-to-date on technical changes, product developments, and manufacturer releases.
• Attend required training.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work area and shop.
• Present a positive, professional image in conduct and dress at all times.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Three or more years of previous related experience preferred.
• Associate Degree in agricultural equipment, diesel technology, and/or other equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of farm equipment preferred.
• Must have own tools.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and insurable driving history.

Pay

Starting wage range is typically $25–40/hr and varies by experience level.

Schedule

Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 5 pm, with a generally voluntary Saturday shift from 7:30 am until noon.
