Service Technician 3
About the role
We are looking for a Service Technician for our Amherst, NY facility. The Service Technician Level 3 will play a key leadership role in directing and improving the performance of equipment that directly impacts overall production output. This role works within the production facility daily, supporting and assisting the Plant Manager to ensure all service-related tasks are performed, documented, and scheduled so maintenance tasks are routinely completed on time. The individual will supervise the work of others, provide mentoring and coaching, and personally perform all maintenance as defined in company manuals and standards. The Service Technician reports directly to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to Operations and Regional Management.
Responsibilities
- Hold daily meetings with production staff to ensure all preventative maintenance is performed on time (based on MES).
- Perform and document preventive maintenance on all equipment within the facility according to standard processes.
- Provide emergency equipment repairs to keep production running.
- Comply with all equipment standards set by manufacturers.
- Check equipment for shutdowns and process interruptions; create action plans to resolve issues.
- Ensure equipment reliability is within target and data is always up to date on the server.
- Plan, purchase, and maintain proper inventory levels to minimize downtime while controlling inventory costs, including an annual inventory count.
- Ensure safety measures are met and technicians practice safe work habits.
- Maintain a clean, well-organized work area, including power alleys, support systems, and equipment.
- Provide training for coating technicians in areas such as load building, batch-to-batch exchanges, and 80-batch maintenance.
- Exhibit a sense of urgency in daily activities when equipment is not capable of running production.
- Complete Technical Directives and communicate Technical Information within the facility.
- Participate as a key member of the management team within the production facility.
- Assist in the development of an internal inventory management process for production.
- Support the installation of equipment, retrofits, and BTS directives.
- Support the Production Technology Department with projects within the facility.
- Communicate effectively with Plant Management.
- Handle additional service-related building projects in the facility.
- Familiarize with key KPIs of the service department.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management to assure customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- 2-year degree (AA) and/or relevant industry certification in an electro-mechanical discipline. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
- 2+ years’ experience working with HVAC, vacuum technology, automotive, and/or industrial equipment repair.
- Experience interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics and troubleshooting equipment using schematics.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work overtime when required.
- Accessible 24 hours a day to respond to service emergencies resulting from equipment failures.
- Detailed-oriented with a strong work ethic and sense of urgency.
- Comfortable working with hands and able to lift, stack, push, pull, and/or move items weighing up to 44 pounds.

Pay
The current compensation range for this position is $36.50 to $46.50 per hour. Some positions may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) will be based on factors including internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, and certifications.
