Primary Duties
- Responsible for the Branch service department and its diesel technicians
- Efficient and profitable operation of the department
- Develops and maintains high level of customer satisfaction
- Strategic and operational goals and objectives for the Branch service department
- Service Department profit targets and operational goals
- Fosters effective and timely communication between Service and all other Branch departments
- Communicates with vendors on product and warranty issues
- Overall responsibility for upkeep and maintenance of facility and grounds
Responsibilities
- Financial and operating objectives for the Branch service department
- Prepares operating and capital budgets, reviews regularly, and takes corrective action
- Manages information to the Executive Committee regarding Branch service operations
- Evaluates Service Department's performance against target goals and standards
- Analyzes the diesel truck market and develops or revises current sales and marketing plan
- Establishes and fosters relationships with key outside vendors
- Maintains good customer relations by addressing concerns and mediating solutions
- Compliance with manufacturer and vendor warranties and technical service procedures
- Follows up and collects vendor credits and allowances
- Hires and recommends hiring of department personnel
- Schedules employees for training and oversees purchasing and acquisition of appropriate department tooling and equipment
- Ensures department achieves acceptable productivity, efficiency, and adherence to company goals and policies
- Handles personnel issues for the Service Department
- Holds monthly shop meetings, foreman's meetings, and safety meetings
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (AA) in a technical field or comparable work experience
- 3-5 years of heavy-duty truck service or related experience with supervisory experience
- Strategic plan development, decision-making abilities, and program implementation
- Product knowledge to customer and staff
- Coaching, training, and motivating subordinates to reach established department goals
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven
- Prioritizing and handling numerous tasks simultaneously
- Professional handling of upset customers
- Good mathematical skills, basic computer skills, and knowledge of Windows
- Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- Travel to meetings, visit customers, attend training classes
- Sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, and lift/move up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis
- Work in a dealership environment to include 8 – 12 hour days with frequent exposure to weather elements
