Job Summary
DeBra-Kuempel is seeking to fill a Service Manager position in our Lexington, KY location. As a Service Manager, you will lead your team of technicians by providing assistance, guidance, and training. You will manage and monitor the performance of service and repair projects within the assigned account base.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the performance of service and repair projects within the assigned customer accounts.
- Aid the Account Manager in defining the technical requirements for proper HVAC & R equipment service and repair.
- Follow through and monitor the performance of the service staff in meeting these technical requirements.
- Provide assistance, guidance, and training to subordinate personnel (Lead Service Technicians, Service Technicians, and Apprentices) in performing their respective assignments.
- Provide assistance/guidance to interdepartmental personnel (Dispatchers, Purchasing Agents, Administrative/Clerical Assistants) in performing their respective assignments.
- Ensure adherence to company/management policies and procedures.
- Cooperate in the management/maintenance of good customer and employee relations.
- Cooperate in the management/maintenance of proper and accurate documentation.
- Ensure personal accessibility to customers and employees.
- Provide assistance/support to Account Managers in managing new and existing accounts.
- Cooperate in the monitoring of employee performance and recommendation of personnel dismissal, reassignment, promotion, and/or additional staffing requirements.
- Participate in the twenty-four hour on-call weekly rotation, as directed by the Vice President.
- Provide technical assistance to the administrative assistant to ensure the most effective and efficient distribution of manpower.
- Provide customer repair/replacement estimates in a timely professional manner.
- Complete Emcor’s required LMS classes.
- Be responsible for refrigerant inventory of technician’s refrigerant usage.
- Complete the service manager goals that are distributed each year.
Qualifications
- Working hours: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Additional hours as necessary).
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Must possess valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.
- Minimum seven (7) years experience in HVAC and Refrigeration.
- Satisfactory completion of industry aptitude test.
- EPA refrigeration certification (Universal).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Team leader and team player.
- Professional appearance.
- Outstanding customer relations and satisfaction.
- Outstanding employee relations and satisfaction.
- Well-managed and maintained account base, with targeted, or better; profitability.
- Well managed and maintained documents and records.
- Consistency in operations and procedures.
Physical Demands

- Reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Navigate around job site and be an approved driver per company Fleet and Driver policy.
Work Environment
- Sit for long periods in front of a computer and travel to field locations as needed.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical and electrical parts; high, precarious places; dust, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight; cold and heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
