Service Laborer- Combo Truck
About the role
The Service Laborer is a position in the Service & Construction Department that assists in repairs to the water sanitary sewer collection systems of the company’s client districts. This position reports to the Construction Crew Foreman.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Operator of the backhoe or other related equipment
- Assist with making water taps and installing water meters
- Assist with repair of water distribution main line and service line leaks
- Assist with performing other water distribution system and sanitary collection system repairs as directed by the Construction Crew Foreman
- On call duty required for emergency repairs when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of experience performing manual labor required
- Prefer previous construction and/or mechanical experience
- Valid Driver License with Safe Driving Record
Skills
- Have a mechanical background and skills maintaining mechanical systems and tools
- Team player committed to working in a quality environment
- Must maintain good attendance
- Ability to work overtime is a mandatory requirement of this job
- Good physical condition and able to lift 25-50 pounds repeatedly
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous tasks under varying weather conditions
- Ability to pass post-offer drug screen and physical
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
